Cool spot with a decent trivia night on Tuesday, but of course I felt old.

Had a great time watching open mic night! The comedians were great! Service was not overly desirable.

Great spot with great DJ's, the Friday night Women of Drum and Bass features some of the best female talent in Calgary under one roof! Drinks are decently priced, the ambience is definitely catering to a younger, casual crowd of informal trend-setters. Atmosphere is like a good house party.

Local shows pretty much every night, great scene, cool people, and that one bartender in the Beanie cap who really does a good job. From punk shows, to comedy, to easy listening, to highschool bands, there is a huge range of performances.

I love the live music here. The musicians they drag into this place are very talented and Wednesday's are always super fun always.

Love this bar. Saturday night hip hop is the best. Usually a $5 cover charge. Rooftop patio has its own bar and is sunny and fun. Food is also great and prices are reasonable.

Great location in the centre of the beltline, so I always seem to end up here. Drinks are cheap and food is pretty good. Service is slow, even when there are very few patrons. Everything is a little run down, but that seems to be part of their aesthetic. I'd probably give Broken City the award for worst smelling bathrooms in Calgary.

If you're a musician in Calgary, your heart lies with this bar. The bar keep, staff, and kitchen are all whole hearted individuals who take pride in the industry. Most importantly, shout out BJ Killer for his constant devotion to Calgary's music scene on Wednesday nights. If you're new in town, or a seasoned veteran be sure to check out "Rockin 4 Dollars!"

We have come here a handful of times for the Comedy Monday Night and it is always a blast! It's a 5$ charge for a great couple of hours. This is a typical hole in the wall bar. I wouldn't come expecting the washrooms to be in pristine condition. It's a place with character and really great ceasars! I love it just the way it is.

Staff was great, excellent bands but very limited seating. I have eaten here several time but not been in the bathroom before this visit...had I done this first I might never have tried the food...whigh is quite good, generous, tasty. Bathrooms are the stuff nightmares are made of. Filthy, water leaks, no flush toilets...these pics are the good ones😒

The stand up comedy night was worth the $5. It exceeded my expectations!

Went for Monday Comedy night and it was a great time! The host is hilarious and all the comedians were great. Food was delicious and a decent selection of beer. Looks kind of divey but is actually great

Gotta be one of the better local music/ entertainment venues in the city. I usually go to the Monday night comedy show, because they have good comedians the whole show through (I find the Yuk yuks usually has a great headliner but lacklustre openers). The live music is great too they really have a pulse on the up and coming alternative music scene. Drink prices are very good and food is damn decent as far as bar food is concerned. Definitely worth checking out!

What an amazing bar. Reminds me of the good old days when bars had great beer, great music and just the right amount of character. New bars are too clean and fancy.

Went for the quiz night. Great quiz and really friendly staff members. However, I don't think anything above shoulder height has ever seen a dusting cloth! It definitely has a 'student bar' feel to it. I used the bathroom at around 8pm and the men's urinal was already blocked up with puke and wasn't cleaned for the rest of the evening. I came away feeling grimey. Could be a great spot, it just need a clean. I will try again later in the year to see if there are any improvements and update review if necessary.

If you love dive bars just half as much as I do, this place will no disappoint you! It is excellent!

Rooftop patio atmosphere is top notch. The crowd is always friendly and the vibe is super chill and casual. Bathrooms are a bit sketchy, both upstairs and downstairs and drinks are expensive. Despite those concerns, I find myself happily returning for other events on that rooftop patio.

Very delicious veg options when you actually receive service. Overall, the service is hit & miss. We once sat for 10 minutes with servers walking by and completely ignoring us. So we left.

Visited three stand up comedy places during my trip to Calgary and this one was the best. Had so much fun. Great atmosphere, friendly and welcoming staff and hilarious comedians. Definitely a must if you love stand up comedy and visiting Calgary. PS interesting design idea for the washroom lol

Broken City is a great spot. The staff is friendly and accommodating with a great pub vibe. We come to play board games on weekend mornings for the breakfast alone! Good deals for happy hour too!

Always great fun!!! Staff are fun and the music is amazing. Oh and the beer is mighty fine as well.

Absolute must for the cauliflower wings and chickpea fries alone. Really appreciate the vegan choices which certainly don't disappoint. Was lucky even to get the chickpea fries for free since they didn't have enough when we walked in. Finally had a chance to came in for their breakfast. Amazing vegan bowl and pancakes.

Such a cool venue to see local bands. Great atmosphere, family run, tons of vegan options!

Crowded and dirty but no reason to expect more. Cover and drinks are both cheap (although they use cheap alcohol)

My personal favorite place to spend time on the Weekend. Natural Selection on Saturdays is one of the most iconic old school hip-hop parties in town and is always a fun time. Also affordable menu and good people 👌

Amazingly authentic little bar, great stage, it's worn-out a bit, but that's why I love it. Not shoving attitude down your throat, it's a great place to just hang. The men's washroom graffiti is worth the visit alone!

I've been coming here for years. Love it. Food is good. Service is just ok. I always end up waiting forever to just order food. And this has been constant in all these years. But I like the food and the ambiance So I will keep coming here

So Monday Night Comedy @ Broken City is the place to be if you don't feel like staying home on Monday night. Excellent food, great drink specials, very pleasant staff and really good show! It's only 5$ at the door and it's worth every penny!

Had a fun time here. But bouncer took my bag at the door when we entered and then abandoned it. It had my camera in it so im glad it was still there when i left.

Great evening out on Monday nights. It's a $5 entry fee for 2 hours of comedy. I love what they're doing for the young comedians in Calgary. Not only do they get big headliners for their shows but they also give a couple 5 minute pieces to aspiring Comedians for their first times on stage. Great atmosphere. If you're going for Monday comedy night get there early... the place PACKS up with people sometimes standing room only.

A nice little bar in the heart of Calgary, they have many different events such as a comedy nights trivia night, and many music nights!! Great place to grab a pint and have some fun for a few hours!!
